Scaled up experimetation sometimes gives different result from small one in yield and quality. The difference caused by scale up can be uderstood scientifically, or rather, predictable. Our expertise make it possible to study scale up effect with small scale experiments, and point out what to do for large scale manufacturing.

Example

When the length is scaled proportionally, the surface area will increase by the second power, while the volume will increase by the third power. Amount of heat-transfer is proportional to surface area, while heat generated or required during reaction is proportinal to volume. As a result of scaling up, surface area per unit volume of equipments will decrease, therefore heat-transfer time will increase, and this can cause safety, quality and yield problems. We identify critical parameters and set up appropriate conditions of unit operation for large scale manufacturing.
